HISTORY OF THIS TRUCK

In mid 2014, we began looking for an ‘M Series’ 6 Track, Super Single Military Truck for sale, retrofitted with a Ten Foot Bed.  While we came across numerous trucks, NONE of them were in Excellent condition, which is what we were looking for.  We did NOT want a project, but rather a MilitaryTruck that came with NO ISSUES, and would be Immediately Ready for us, Starting on Day One.

After a fairly lengthy search, and coming up empty handed around every corner, we decided to contact companies that had Contracts with the Military and/or Specialized in the Complete Restoration of 5 Ton Military Trucks.

We finally found a company in Southern California that specialized in just that.  They had an Extremely Low Mileage Truck available, and would be ready start Our Build as son as we completed Our Design Specifications with their Design Builder.  This process lasted a little over a week, as we went back and forth several times, to ensure the Truck they were Building for us, would end up being Exactly what we were looking for.

The truck ended up being a 1991 BMY HARSCO 931A2 Tractor.  The tractor ended up being the best choice for us, because of it’s Short Frame, and the fact that we wanted a Shorty’ 10 foot bed.  The M931A2, cut our build costs down, as they did not have to remove a bed off of an M923, or similar, BMY HARSCO ‘M’ Series Trucks.  Nor did they have to shorten the frame, or any other type of complex modification.  Using the M931A2, simply involved removing the Fifth Wheel, installing bed brackets to the frame, bolting down the new 10 foot bed, and running electrical.

Since this Military Truck was being ‘Custom Built’ for us, it was important that we got Everything Right that we wanted done the first time.  This is where the Restoration folks in Southern California really got it right.  They left No Stone un-turned, and made sure Every Possibility that could be done to this truck, was covered, prior to starting the build.

The BMY M931A2 ended up being an Excellent choice for us, and the Truck was delivered on time January 14th, 2015; Exactly Six weeks after the Build was started.  It showed up on a large Flatbed Truck, at about 09:30 in the morning.  Here are the pics…
